award winning urban landscape painter
An artist and urban explorer based in Scotland, I create highly detailed paintings of cityscapes, street scenes and industrial architecture. My process involves going on-site (to places I perhaps shouldn’t) to explore and record the urban environment.
My work concentrates on texture and detailed draughtsmanship to create atmospheric images of the city. I am fascinated by brickwork, graffiti and rusting industrial structures, and I use these elements to create gritty, textural paintings.
Working mostly in oils, but also in ink, charcoal and pencil, every brick and window pane is hand detailed to produce an embossed feel to the surface of the painting - a process that takes many hours.
