cate’s work has been at the forefront of the scottish contemporary art scene for over 10 years. Winning numerous awards and prizes from established art societies and institutions, Her bold and innovative use of composition and colour Makes her style instantly recognisable.

Based in the west end of Glasgow, with it’s glorious architecture and industrial heritage, cate’s studio is surrounded by URBAN inspiration. her creative process reflects the world that she experiences everyday, inspiring her atmospheric cityscapes.

originally from the the great shipbuilding town of greenock on the banks of the clyde, her formative years were spent immersed in a world of victorian industrial architecture and the imposing engineering of the shipyards.

Graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1999 with an honours degree in design, cate worked first as a designer and then for 10 years in arts education.

throughout she developed a passion for urban exploration, SEEKING OUT transient spaces AND RUN DOWN BUILDINGS. THESE PLACES hold a fascination, and she has become known for the way in which she captures the colour, texture and atmosphere of THE LAYERS OF THE CITY.

exhibiting regularly with respected galleries, her work has been showcased throughout the UK, Europe & the USA.

her paintings HAVE REGULARLY BEEN exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy in edinburgh and AT THE MALL GALLERIES IN LONDON WITH the Royal Institute of Oil Painters & THE PARKER HARRIS ING DISCERNING EYE.
